Its a great time to be a conservative. McCain/Palin will win. With 80% of Americans refusing to participate in polls, no poll on earth could derive an accurate result. The conservatives are fired up like never before and will vote heavily on Tuesday.

You say that "extreme" conservatism has failed? In what way has it failed to deliver? Only socialism can deliver the equality you seem to espouse, and socialism has never worked in any country it has been tried. Many Americans do not share your sour view of the American economy. There will always be people struggling, but an environment that provides everyone an opportunity to get head is what makes our economy so powerful. Redistributing wealth puts a cap on success, which will have the same effect it had in the USSR: stagnation. When you punish the successful, people stop being successful. Why bother to make more money if the government is just going to redistribute it to those who aren't working for it? Thats why they had empty bread shelves in the USSR.

How quick we forget the Jimmy Carter economy of double-digit inflation and double-digit unemployment in 1976-1980. The mood of the country turned sour and Pres. Carter referred to it as "malaise." The election of Pres. Reagan changed all of that. He cut taxes on businesses and individuals and let the powerhouse of an economy we have take over.

Yes, some people are struggling right now, just as there were people struggling in 1902. We're always going to have people at the bottom rung of society. Providing them an economy that rewards success, along with the programs in place to assist the needy, is the most compassionate thing to do.

Methinks it is a bit early to write the obituary for conservatism. Just wait until you see us vote on Tuesday.
